Airfix - RAF Halifax B.III bomber

By Francis Lee

Model: (1/72 Scale)
Airfix Handley Page Halifax B.III Bomber

I bought the model in 1988 and I start to build it since 2 weeks ago.
The kit contains not many parts however most clear plastic parts seem
not very fit with the plane body, big gaps all around the main canopy and I need to use a model blade to trim some plastic to fill into big gaps and sand them down.

P.S. I do not use those figures of the model, they are too ugly!!

Background:
The Handley Page Halifax was one of the British front-line, four-engined heavy bombers of the Royal Air Force. A contemporary of the famous Avro Lancaster, the Halifax remained in service until the end of the war. Halifax B.III Main production variant, fitted with Bristol Hercules engines. B.III bombers were fitted with transparent nose dome with single machine gun, Boulton Paul dorsal turret with four guns and tail turret with four guns.

Special thanks to Airfix company:

Due to the decal of my old model got moldy and unable to use. Airfix company quickly reply me and post me 2 replacements free of charge.

(Most Japanese model brands will not do parts replacement for oversea customer. ) Many thanks to Airfix's good service!!!

Banzai! - Diorama of the Day

by Kasper Fischer

Keeping in the spirit of Paul Keefe's beautiful 'Battle of Tawara' diorama, posted earlier on the MW, I saw this existing piece. I don't know if the correct technical term is diorama or vignette but this little piece really tells the story.

The vignette is in 1/35th scale and was created by Chris Mrosko and was posted on Hyperscale

China PLA Type 59-B MBT

By Francis Lee

Model: (1/35 Scale)
Trumpeter China PLA Type 59-B Main Battle Tank.
Trumpeter Figures.

Early product of Trumpeter, the model has many common parts share with T-55. In fact, the Type 59 tank is a copy of T-54 tank. This Type 59-B version has an up graded 105mm gun.

Background:
The first Type59 tank was produce in 1958 with serial production begun in 1963. With approximately 5,500 serving with the Chinese armed forces. The tank is the work horse & backbone of the army until early 2000s with an estimated 5,000 of the later Type 59-I and Type 59-II variants in service in 2002. Nowadays these tanks are mainly for training use.
Type 59 was modified several times with the replacement of the 100 mm Type 59-B rifled gun with a 105 mm rifled gun. It was also the basis of several later Chinese tank designs including Type 69 & 79 tanks with bigger guns. These tanks export to many countries as well.

Lucius Vorenus & Titus Pullo (paint guide)

by Michael Rieß

These 54mm white metal figures from Andrea Miniatures show a Roman Centurion and a Legionary of the 1st Century B.C. The details of the figure kits are superb, no problems occurred while assembly. Both figures are painted with acrylic and oil paints.

D-Day plus 4 - Diorama of the Day

by Kasper Fischer

This amazing scratch-build 1/72 scale US Coast Guard patrol boat and diorama was created by Michael Maynard and published on modelshipgallery.com. The boat itself is a fantastic model but the diorama really brings it to life. I think it's very interesting to see all the activity on the dockyard and when ever I see work like this, I always start to create a back-story in my head. Maybe the boat was attacked by a 109 in the English channel, trying to pick up a downed pilot. Michael is calling the diorama 'D-Day Plus 4' so maybe it was damaged during the invasion.

Michael has posted a bunch of close-up pictures on the website so please follow the link and check out all the nice details.

Finnish T-55 with Mine Roller

By Francis Lee

Model: (Scale 1/35)
Trumpeter T-55 with KMT-5 anti-mine roller
Tamiya figure.

This is early product of the Trumpeter comapny, the overall tooling is just OK but it is just half of the price of Tamiya T-55, plus it comes with the KMT-5 anti-mine roller as well.

Background:
The Finnish Army used to have some T 54 /55 tanks, few of them remains as a anti-mine tanks, fitted with a wide range of equipment including singular and combined roller and plough type systems mounted on the front of the hull. This KMT-5 roller is a common tool for other countries tanks as well.

Leopard 2A6 - Diorama of the Day

The German Leopard tank has always been a favourite of mine. Maybe it's because the Danish army uses the them too but I really think the this tank looks awesome.

The Leopard 2A6 diorama is based on the Tamiya 1/35 scale kit and is done by Henry Liu, from Shanghai, China. The Diorama was first published on missing-lynx.com, which is one of the best online model galleries, I have come across. Please check it out!

M4 High Speed Tractor - Diorama of the Day

by Kasper Fischer

I have this Hobby Boss kit in my stash and I'm really been looking forward to getting started. Unfortunately I don't have as much time in the workshop as I would like. I guess that's something most of us have to deal with but then it's lucky we can look at other peoples work.

This Beautiful diorama of the M4 High Speed Tractor is done by K of Kawiarenka Modelarska. He is a Polish model builder on Blogspot and is deferentially worth following. He mainly builds Armor and AFV's but he also has some beautiful airplanes in his gallery.
