Airfix 1/24 Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB

Airfix has just released a new kit of the Hawker Typhoon. This one is a bit different though because it is in 24th scale and for this reason the kit is super detailed. Almost eveything you can think of, in the real airplane, is represented in the model. Internal gas tanks, machinegun mounting and one amazing looking engine.

The kit has been created with advanced CAD design which is used on all their new models. The kit has over 500 parts, and once assembled boasts an impressive wingspan of over 500mm. The kit looks like a giant project and I'm not sure I have the stamina to complete a model like this. How ever, I cannot hide my positive feeling for this kit. Maybe some day when I have more time on my hands?

The Hawker Typhoon (Tiffy in RAF slang), was a British single-seat fighter-bomber, produced by Hawker Aircraft. It was intended to be a medium–high altitude interceptor, as a replacement for the Hawker Hurricane but several design problems were encountered and it never completely satisfied this requirement.
The Typhoon was designed to mount 12 machine guns and be powered by the latest 2000 hp engines. Its service introduction in mid-1941 was plagued with problems and for several months the aircraft faced a doubtful future. When the Luftwaffe brought the formidable Focke-Wulf Fw 190 into service in 1941, the Typhoon was the only RAF fighter capable of catching it at low altitudes; as a result it secured a new role as a low-altitude interceptor.

Coopers Tea Rooms - Diorama of the Day

I just saw this beautiful piece today and I most say, I'm mighty impressed. The light really sets the mood in Yasu Okugawa's diorama. I really like the whole setting and I wish more modellours used light in their pieces because it really brings the scene to life.

Revell 1/24 Büssing 8000 S13

I was in the mood to build a civilian vehicle again. This time i selected the Büssing 8000 S13 truck from Revell in 1/24 scale. The quality of the kit is superb and it costs only 25€, so the kit is very beneficial.

I painted the model with Revell aqua acrylic paints only. Mig and Vallejo pigments were used for the weathering.

During the 50s tremendous effort, vigour and energy was invested in the reconstruction of the Federal Republic of Germany. Great progress was also made in the development of the motor industry, particularly in the field of commercial vehicles. These were the years of the mighty heavy-duty lorries with their long bonnets, but they were underpowered and recognizable by the characteristic harsh noise of their four stroke diesel engines. In addition to Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Krupp, Magirus-Deutz, Henschel, Kaelble and Faun the Büssing 8000 S13 was one of the best known and most imposing lorries of the period.

1/24 Brabham BT26 Jack Brabham Monaco GP 1968

This paper model was developed by `abs` studio. It's the 1968 version of the Monaco Grand Prix without fairings and has the early engine. I used cyanoacrylate, or super glue for bonding  the model. It took me about two weeks to complete. I enjoy building paper models and this was a really fun build. If you want to try this paper model, it can be downloaded for free here.
