INSPIRING STAR WARS DIORAMA

It's time for another Diorama of the Day video. I came across this amazing piece a couple of days ago and just instantly knew I had to make another video in the series.

This piece, a Dagobah diorama, was created by Michael Fichtenmayer of Fichtenfoo.com and I must say that I'm truly impressed. The scene is set in 48th scale and it took Michael, off and on, about 5 months to complete the diorama. It's great to see the mood of the scene is captured in fine details.

Great job, Michael. I hope to see more of your artwork in the future.

Amazing Diorama of Argonath from "Lord of the Rings".

"The Guardians" by Alexander Krasnov.

I recently came across this wonderful diorama by Alexander Krasnov from Ukraine. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of fantasy models but this piece it truly a stunning work of craftsmanship. The whole idea of using a book for the base of the diorama is very creative and unique and I will follow Alexander's work in the future to see what adventures will come out of his workbench.

The scale is about 1:100 scale and the diorama measures 40 centimetres by 28 centimetres. All scratch build for our enjoyment. Click here to visit Alexander's model page and see more of his astonishing work.

The King Child - Diorama of the Day

I have previously shown another piece by Nicolas Cabaret of JBA Diorama. A small vignette called Baba Yaga. Nicolas is creating some of the most spectacular and inspiring work I have ever seen and I have spend the last couple of nights looking at all the wonderful pictures on his website.

This piece is called The King Child and features a wrecked ship crushed by the ice. In the centre of the diorama Nicolas has sculpted a nice scene of a child jumping into the arms of a man. I guess he has a long story to go along with the diorama and if you are the curious type you should really explore his site. There's a lot of treasures to find.

The Death of 6th Army in Stalingrad

Well guys. I did it again. Another video of the amazing work done by Paul Keefe. I really have a soft spot for Paul's work because of his ability to tell a story in his dioramas. I just love it and it really makes my job of creating a video very easy. I just have to find some related footage and the video just creates it self. Thanks Paul, for your inspirantial work. I hope everyone enjoy's it as much as I do.

This diorama is called "Death of an Army" and is in 1/48 scale. It was a commision to a private collector and deals with the collapse of the 6th German Army at Stalingrad. I am completely blown away by the level of detail in this piece. The way the snow has been modelled to look like the wind has caught it and blown it across the tank just looks so good.

An old abandoned Hind

A few days ago I came across this fantastic diorama. An old abandoned Hind, left behind to rust, in an public parking lot, after the fall of the Soviet Union. I was so impressed by the diorama I instantly got inspired and just had to make a video about it. Another DotD video...

The piece is in 1/35th scale and is called "Rust and Bones". The stunning artwork was created by Rick Lawler, the man behind the now famous "Twisted Fate" diorama. This is another fantastic example of how much weathering can add to a model. I much rather see these rusted and forgotten machines than well functioning killing machines. They are much more interesting to the eyes and do not promote war, in the same manner.

Battle of the Bulge Diorama by Paul Keefe

It's time for me to make some more videos for our Diorama of the Day series and the first video is ready. I have worked all night to get the video done because once I got started, I couldn't stop until it was completed. I guess a lot of model builders know that feeling. Just having to complete those damn tracks before you can go to bed...

First up is another masterpiece by Paul Keefe called "Butcher's Bill". I will properly present more of his work in the future, simply because I love the way Paul tells a story in his work. The level of details in his dioramas reminds me of a page from a good old cartoon. This is a 1/35 scale Sherman tank set in the Battle of the Bulge.

The diorama represents the last stand of the US 28th Infantry Division (Pennsylvania Army National Guard) at the Battle of Clervaux Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge. The 28th Infantry took 90% loses, killed and captured, but delayed the German 5th Panzer Army long enough for the 101st Airborne Division to get into position around Bastogne. The M4 depicted here was part of "A" Company of the 707th Medium Tank Battalion, attached to the US 28th Inf. Division at this time.

1/72 Ural 4320 w KS-2573 - Diorama of the Day

What a brilliant idea! I really think this is a very creative way to make an attractive looking diorama. The piece was made by Péter Horváth from Cobra Modelling Club and yes it's the same guy who made the Saipan Beach Sherman, we have featured on our channel.

Great going Péter and we are looking forward to see what else comes out of your workshop, in the future.

The Coast Line RR - Diorama of the Day

Yesterday I shared some pictures from this amazing Swedish model railroad on our Facebook page and I realized how long it has been since I showed you guys anything from that corner of the hobby. My bad and I'm going to make due for that right now.

Troels Kirk is a big model railroad fan and have been into the hobby for a long time. He is also a extraordinary model builder and his layout really shows. I'm really amazed by all the beautiful scenes he has created on the railroad and I only wish I could get an overview of the full size of the layout. The Rock Island - Diorama of the Day

This wonderful piece is one of  Takanori Aiba amazing creations and I am completely in awe after seeing his work. I'm not sure how to categorise his pieces though. Is this conceptional art or advanced modelling? It really doesn't matter what it is because it's truly fantastic to see all the details in the diorama.

Takanori Aiba has done many pieces like this one and have won many awards over the years. He has always been into modelling, especially railroad, and I invite you all to check out his website.

HM Cutter Alert - Diorama of the Day

"Alert" 1/48 scale scratch build diorama by Kazunobu Shirai.

All men on deck! The HM Cutter is in a very dangerous position in the hard storm and the crew needs to be alert.

I love when model builders are creating a story line in their pieces and this amazing diorama from Kazunobu Shirai is a perfect example of this. Not only is it a stunning model but Kazunobu truly shows he understand the sea and I have received information from a good friend and a professional seaman, that the sea and the ships positioning is very realistic depicted.

The model itself is not less impressive. The HM Cutter is a 1/48 scale model and is completely scratch build and hand crafted. The rigging looks great and the whole model just looks so damn good. Most the figures are converted from Tamiya German soldiers but it really don't show. I will be stopping by his website in the future to see what goes on in Kazunobu Shirai's workshop. Baba Yaga - Diorama of the Day

This is properly one of the most bizarre dioramas I have seen in a long time. Maybe ever. I have no idea about the idea/story behind the diorama but I'm fascinated by the ghostly theme of the piece. Everything is scratchbuilt and hand sculpted by Nicolas Cabaret. I think the water looks brilliant and the dead German soldiers, all submerged, are extremely well executed.

I just saw this beautiful piece today and I most say, I'm mighty impressed. The light really sets the mood in Yasu Okugawa's diorama. I really like the whole setting and I wish more modellours used light in their pieces because it really brings the scene to life.

"Abandoned Refuge" - Diorama of the Day

This incredible AT-AT were build for a contest at starshipmodeler.com and has later been sold to a private collector in Texas. The price is unknown but it certainly wasn't cheap. The packaging of the diorama took over two full days and I bet they were pretty nervous during the transport.

The diorama is named "Abandoned Refuge" is in 1:32 scale and was created by Dimitri Kaliviotis.

WOW!!! That's all I can say... This is simply amazing. The diorama is 40x28cm and the scale is 65mm. The piece, named "The Guardians", was created by Alexander Krasnov from Ukraine. I'm normally not all that interested in Fantasy figures and models but this incredible diorama is so far beyond anything I have ever seen and I really hope you guys enjoy this as much as I do. Scandinavian Airlines Flight 751 - Diorama of the Day

This astunishing diorama was the Best of Show in the IPMS 2011 Danish nationals. It was entered in the Documentation class and depict SAS Flight 751 that crashed in Sweden in 1991. The airliner had just left Arlanda airport when both engines cut out on the brand new, state of the art DC-9. 

The Danish pilot managed to crash land the aircraft in a field in the secluded forest of Gottöra and amazingly everybody survived. 

The diorama was build by Albert Tureczek and is mostly scratch build in 1/72 scale.
