This new kit from Revell can easily compared with Tamiya or Dragon with regard to the quality of the kit. All parts fit very nicely together and no filler was needed. For about 13€ this kit is affordable.

I painted the model with Revell acrylic paints. For weathering i used MIG products.

Revell 1/24 Büssing 8000 S13

I was in the mood to build a civilian vehicle again. This time i selected the Büssing 8000 S13 truck from Revell in 1/24 scale. The quality of the kit is superb and it costs only 25€, so the kit is very beneficial.

I painted the model with Revell aqua acrylic paints only. Mig and Vallejo pigments were used for the weathering.

During the 50s tremendous effort, vigour and energy was invested in the reconstruction of the Federal Republic of Germany. Great progress was also made in the development of the motor industry, particularly in the field of commercial vehicles. These were the years of the mighty heavy-duty lorries with their long bonnets, but they were underpowered and recognizable by the characteristic harsh noise of their four stroke diesel engines. In addition to Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Krupp, Magirus-Deutz, Henschel, Kaelble and Faun the Büssing 8000 S13 was one of the best known and most imposing lorries of the period.

RAF Lancaster B.III "Dambusters"

Revell 1/72 Lancaster B.III the Dambusters.

Recently I built up this Revell kit along with an Airfix Halifax, I quickly found the big different of old and modern tooling of plastic mould technology of these 2 kits. I spent more time to build up the tiny parts
of Lancaster, on the other hands the Airfix Halifax has no detail parts but I still need to spend a lot of time to fill in gaps around Halifax body. The two bombers come up with almost same size. The decals of the Revell Lancaster is so good quality (Made in Italy).

Apache Down - Diorama of the Day

This inspiring downed Apache diorama is made by Yoreh. It's in 1/48 scale and he used the Revell AH-64 and two Tamiya Hummers for the piece. I really like when people try to tell a story in their work and this is kinda like looking into a comic book. I like the realistic stuff too but this makes me curious. 

Yoreh obviously had to modify the aircraft and scratch-build a few parts and if you follow this link you can see how he tweaked the the Revell kit. 

Australian Beaufighters - Diorama of the Day

Revell Arado Ar 196 in 1/32 scale

Revell´s quite new Arado Ar 196 kit features fantastic detail and excellent fitting accuracy.
The assembly was easy and no problems occurred. I painted the model with Revell´s acrylic paints. To weather the model i applied a dark wash made with oil paints and some chipping.

Arado Ar196 A-3 (1/32 Revell):

This kit was released not long time ago and i´m very surprised by it´s amazing detail and quality. The light grey plastic parts are very large but they have an excellent fitting accuracy!
The engine is a model on its own and the cockpit is reproduced in a very realistic way. Definately one of the best kits i have ever seen ( and i have seen many of them!). The kit costs about 25€ so i can highly recommend it.
I hope to finish the model next week.



Panzer I B "German Afrika Korps (1/35 Dragon):

Another excellent kit with photo etched parts, clear parts and good quality. The only thing i can criticise is the absence of Dragon´s famous "Magic Tracks". I´m not in the mood of cutting every single tracklink from the sprue, so i put this one more or less to a hold. The kit costs about 25-30€.



Battleship Bismarck (1/350 Tamiya):

It´s a pretty cool and simple kit. You don´t have to assemble thousands of parts. I put this project more or less on a hold, because i´m thinking of adding some details on my own, like raillings and gun coverings. The kit itself is good, but not up to date anymore (it was released in 1978 i think). Revell´s 1/350 scale Bismarck is definately better.


Avro Lancaster MkI/III (1/48 Tamiya):


Again a quite old, but still good kit in my opinion. The assembly is easy, but you will need some filler for sure. I will show this model in flight position, so can build a diorama like i did for the Hind helicopter. This project is on a hold for some months now, because i have no place to display the finished model and upcoming diorama.

Messerschmitt Bf110 C-7 (1/32 Dragon):

I recently bought this kit for 90€ and i´m really looking forward to get it st arted, maybe after the Arado.
