C4 Open 2011 in Malmö

by Kasper Fischer

I just got back home from the 20th edition of the C4 Open contest and MAN am I impressed. It has really been a long day and my legs/feets are killing me. I have been running around like a headless chicken because there was so much I had to see. The competition is held at Teknikens och Sjöfartens Hus(Technic & Seafarer's House) in Malmö, Sweden so I had to check out the Museum too. Not just the competition.

It is only 9 o'clock in the evening now but I'm of to bed. I think this will be the first time in years I will turn in before 10 but I gotta get up real early in the morning and get back over there. I will of cause post as many pictures on the blog as I can but you can deferentially also expect a few videos from the show too. I hope I can get the first edited during next week but my computer is all stressed out so I'll have to see what happens. ANYWAY, here's a couple of pictures from the event. Hope you will enjoy them...

Berlin, Spring 1945 - Diorama of the Day

by Kasper Fischer

I found this fantastic JSU-152 diorama on AFV-News.com. I can only recommend the website, if you are interested in tanks and AFV's. This is an entries in their new "Art of War" contest and I'm really enjoying it.

The model builder has unfortunately not signed with a name, only an alias, so I'm not able to tell you who actually build the tank but I really think it looks stunning and the base is beautifully done too.

I will only show a couple of pictures here but if you wish to see more, just follow this link. There's many more pictures and even some of the build it self. I promise you won't regret it.

How to make cheap scale leafs for your diorama

by Kasper Fischer

I have never seen this done before but I really like the idea of using real leafs to make your diorama stand out from the crowd. I'm also a BIG fan of every idea that is cheap or free since modelling is becoming more and more expensive with all the photo-etch and pricey resin aftermarket parts available in stores.

I found this great idea on AFV-News.com and I really got to give Oleg Uliskov credit for it. Simple but what a brilliant idea.

Lkw gl leicht "Wolf" from Revell

by Michael Rieß

This new kit from Revell can easily compared with Tamiya or Dragon with regard to the quality of the kit. All parts fit very nicely together and no filler was needed. For about 13€ this kit is affordable.

I painted the model with Revell acrylic paints. For weathering i used MIG products.

Tanks at IPMS

by Kasper Fischer

Here is the bulk of the armoured divisions of the Danish IPMS championship. Some fantastic models and I was really inspired by some of the artillery pieces. I think a gun looks really cool as lone gun on a display-stand. That said, I really like the wooden base of the first gun. Beautifully done in Oak and a piece of craftsmanship in it self.

Another models that really inspired me was the Opel truck in the end. Really nice paint-job and the weathering is excellent but the stowage completely tops it off in style. The details looks really realistic but I think it deserved a stand. It kinda disappeared on the table.

IDF workhorses M113 Fitter & M3 Half-track

by Francis Lee

1/35 Scale of Tamiya figures, M3 half-track, M113 body and Verlinden resin product of M113 Fitter.

Background
This diorama took place in 1982 Lebanon War, the "Operation Peace for Galilee." An IDF M113 Fitter found a broke down M3 half-track in the Lebanese frontier, this Combat Repair Vehicle acts as a transport for replacement parts and as a workstation for light repair. Fitter is the backbone of any IDF assault & tank unit. The IDF is still using the M3 half-track nowadays, among the many variants of the M3, they are still very active old workhorses! (Surprise!)

Model
It is always fun to build IDF gears and see all those variants of their tanks, trucks. The troops love to DIY and change parts and make the machines fit their war. I built up this Fitter by using resin parts of Verlinden Product and a body of Tamiya M113. During research, I am so surprise that IDF is still using the old US M3 half-track. (at youtube videos) So I have the idea to build a diorama for these two old buddies of M113 Fitter & M3 half-track
together.
